David is a British national and Associate Professor of Surgery in the University of Oxford. He trained in Bristol and moved to Oxford in 1983 for his D.Phil research in renal transplantation. He was introduced to OCMS in 2006 by his friend and mentor Dr Monty Barker and was chairman of the Board from 2020 to 2023.
A close friend of John Stott from 1976 until his death in 2011, he shares his conviction that during this century many of the influential leaders in the church will come from the global south and the OCMS will continue to have a formative role in this process. Amongst his other roles he has been ‘squeezing the juice’ out of many of the OCMS PhD theses and making them into mini books suitable for a wider lay audience.
