Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali was the 106th Bishop of Rochester, for 15 years, until 1 September 2009. He is originally from Southwest Asia and was the first Diocesan Bishop in the Church of England born abroad. He was appointed in 1994. Before that he was the General Secretary of CMS from 1989-1994 and prior to holding this position was Bishop of Raiwind in Pakistan.

Thomas Harvey serves as Academic Dean of the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS). He has written extensively on issues of Church and State in China and Southeast Asia. He authored Acquainted with Grief: Wang Mingdao’s Stand for the Persecuted Church in China as well as numerous articles on Christianity, Christian social engagement, and Mission. In
particular, Dr Harvey examines ideological tensions in modern nations between the state and religious minorities.
