After several weeks of working remotely while the St Philip and St James building undergoes a major lighting overhaul, the OCMS team welcomed the opportunity to gather face to face for our latest Team Day. Traditionally held in early spring, this year’s Team Day was brought forward as a timely moment to reconnect in person, reflect together, and look ahead.

A fitting setting for reflection and learning
We were warmly hosted at Yarnton Manor, home to the UK Lanier Theological Library, whose aim is to advance the Kingdom of God resonates with OCMS. The setting itself encouraged both reflection and conversation. A guided tour of the Manor gave us insight into its history and current life, with particular excitement around the brand new library, due to open in February, which will serve as a hub for scholars at all stages of their academic journey.
Prayer, music, and shared life
The day began with collective prayer, grounding our time together in worship and thanksgiving. We were richly served by Ralph and Matt, who led us musically on piano and cello, creating space for stillness, attentiveness, and shared devotion as a team.

Getting to know one another better
A highlight of the morning was a Q&A session with Marina, which offered the team a chance to learn more about Aminta, who joined OCMS in early January. These moments of storytelling and introduction are an important part of building our shared life, especially as the team continues to grow and change. Readers can also learn more about Aminta [here].
We also heard more about Calum, who has been serving as an Associate Tutor with OCMS over the past year. Working closely with Ralph, Calum has been involved in the Ethiopian project in collaboration with Sankt Ignatios Institute in Sweden, and it was encouraging to hear more about this work and its wider significance.

Sharing food and conversation
Midday brought us together around the table in Yarnton’s beautiful long dining room. Sharing lunch in such a setting reinforced the importance of hospitality and informal conversation in our life as a community. With coffee and pastries flowing throughout the day, there was no shortage of opportunities for connection and catch-up.
Looking ahead: OCMS priorities for 2026
The afternoon sessions focused on OCMS priorities for 2026. Through a combination of presentations and small-group breakout discussions, the team reflected on current work, emerging opportunities, and the direction ahead. These conversations provided valuable space for listening,
collaboration, and collective discernment.
Reconnecting and returning
Overall, the Team Day was a valuable opportunity for connection, updating, and shared vision. It reminded us of the importance of gathering in person, particularly after a season of remote working.
The OCMS team will reconnect again on the first Monday in February, returning to the St Philip and St James building with refreshed lighting and renewed energy, ready once more to welcome scholars and visitors. More on the completion of the lighting project will follow in the next issue.
We are grateful for the space, hospitality, and conversations that shaped this day, and we look forward to the season ahead.
