Farewell to Matt Cripps and Welcome to Chris Ducker

Matt Cripps COO Farewell

End of last year, Matt Cripps decided to step down from his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies, sensing a call to a new phase of ministry. At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Chris Ducker, who has recently taken up the role of COO.

Farewell Matt

We recently had the opportunity to mark Matt’s contribution during a farewell moment after one of our regular chapel gatherings, with students and staff present.

Matt played an important role in strengthening the daily operations of OCMS during his time with us. From developing policies and improving internal processes to ensuring our infrastructure runs smoothly, much of the operational stability we enjoy today bears his imprint.

In particular, with the support of external experts, he helped spearhead the preparation and execution of our recent lighting refurbishment and heating upgrades—significant improvements to our historic building that will benefit the OCMS community for years to come. Alongside this work, Matt also contributed to the ongoing planning of the hospitality suite, an important next step in enabling us to welcome scholars and visitors from around the world.

Matt was much appreciated by staff and students alike, and we are grateful for his dedication, encouragement, and hard work during his time with us. We send him with our prayers and best wishes as he continues serving God’s Kingdom in new ways.

Welcome Chris

Chris comes to us after serving as Principal of ForMission College, where he led the college through a significant period of transition that ultimately saw its mission and programmes integrated into Moorlands College. His combination of strategic thinking, operational leadership, and experience in theological education could hardly be more relevant for OCMS at this moment.

Chris has already begun settling into the role and taking hold of the operational reins of OCMS. We are grateful for the experience and perspective he brings, and look forward to the contribution he will make as OCMS continues to serve scholars and church leaders from around the world.
