In the midst of war and violence in many parts of our world, OCMS issues a call for all Christians to renounce violence and retribution in all its forms. We are the Body of Christ, called to be a sign and foretaste of the Kingdom of God, of which ‘the increase of his governance and peace there will be no end’ Isaiah 9:7
We condemn unreservedly the use of violence as a means to achieve a just settlement in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. All people are made in the image of God and precious in his sight. We condemn in the strongest terms the savage murders perpetrated by Hamas and the disproportionate and indiscriminately violent response of the Israeli government.
We reject all violence in the name of religion, and especially those forms of Christian theology that justify oppression and violence.
We pray for peace and commit to do all we can to petition our leaders to work for peace with justice in the region.
We invite you, through the following links, to listen to the cry of our Palestinian Christian sisters and brothers; voices that are rarely heard in the global church. We encourage you to use these to fuel your prayer and action for justice and peace:

A call to lament and reject violence, to listen deeply and to seek peace
