It’s party time at OCMS!
OCMS emerged from the spirit-filled imagination of a group of majority world leaders who networked as INFEMIT. Forty years ago, our founders agreed to set up a centre called ‘The Oxford Centre for Mission Studies’ that would provide space for research and the equipping of practitioner-leaders from Asia, Africa and Latin America.
On June 28 and 29 this year, we will celebrate the creativity and sheer persistence of those who gave themselves to develop theological perspectives that are both faithful to biblical revelation and contextually relevant. Today, OCMS has over 175 PhD alumni located in every corner of the globe, along with many others who have participated in OCMS programmes as researchers, MA students and more recently the Integrated Mission Leadership programme.
More importantly, we will celebrate the intervention and faithfulness of God who has stirred up, inspired, guided and provided for OCMS throughout our 40-year history.
OCMS is an academic community, rigorous in its pursuit of understanding and sense making.
It is a mission community, restless in its desire to be in those places where God is at work restoring the Kingdom.
Above all, it is a spiritual community, gathered together by the Triune God to be a place where he is worshipped, honoured and confessed. That’s why ‘party’ will be an act of worship.
You will be able to join us online for the full event.
Part of the legacy we steward is the wonderful building God provided in the heart of OCMS. Those who have spent any time in this unique space know it is in urgent need of development. Please consider partnering with us at this special time to make the building fit for purpose for the next 40 years as we seek to raise £250,000 towards the internal renovation of this global hub, from which our scholars impact the world through mission research and practical scholarship.
