Tens of thousands of years before the invention of writing, our ancestors were busy in caves around the world, creating abstract signs, and painting images that still have the power to grip and move us today. In this lecture we examine the art of the Stone Age, and the extraordinary witness it bears to human uniqueness, creativity and the spiritual quest. And we explore it in the light of some major biblical themes, especially the creation of men and women as the imago dei. What are the implications of this ancient art for Christian mission in today’s world?
