Nestor M. Ravilas is a struggling public theologian from the Philippines. He and his small community, Penuel School of Theology, are deeply committed to the legacy of the historical Jesus, particularly on the memory of his struggle and resistance to all forms of oppressive and exploitative power. Albeit unpopular and uncompromising path, Nestor and Penuel chose to remain faithful to this legacy despite the enfeebling challenges they face in the seriously injured nation due to its long history of military subjugation and its seemingly unending economic and political colonization.
