Evangelistic Ethics in the Context of Religious Pluralism
Editorial
Transformation 1991 (Vol. 8, No. 1, page 0)
How can evangelism contribute to
national integrity instead of being viewed
as a threat to it?
The context of religious pluralism
challenges the evangelist to justify the
legitimacy of a call to conversion. An
integral part of its identity which India
promotes and develops is religious
plurality.

Faith, Freedom and Democracy
Editorial
Transformation 1990 (Vol. 7, No. 4, page 0)
This issue of Transformation poses a basic question: is there anything biblical at stake in the struggle for democracy? We must be careful. A quick look at church history reminds one of how quickly and easily Christians have often provided moral and theological sanction for current political practice. Nor dare we overlook the fact that theocracy was the norm in the Old Testament, and monarchy prevailed throughout most of Christian history. Only since the eighteenth century (and partly because of the secular Enlightenment) has democracy spread significantly. Donald Shell charts the sources of democracy.

'Social Concern at Lausanne II'
Editorial
Transformation 1990 (Vol. 7, No. 1, page 0)
Lausanne I had seen the issue of social responsibility put
firmly on the agenda of evangelicals. The whole of
Lausanne I had entered into a covenant which made a
commitment to evangelical social responsibility. A number
of Lausanne sponsored gatherings and events since
then developed the theme, notably the Consultation on
the Relation of Evangelism and Social Responsibility in
1982 which saw three relationships between the two: a
bridge, a consequence and marriage. The concern for
evangelism in large cities of our world which surfaced at
the Pattaya Consultation in 1980 became a major
expression of wholistic evangelical missiology. Other
evangelical networks such as the World ,Evangelical
Fellowship Unit on Ethics and Society pursued the
theology of development at gatherings such as the
Wheaton gathering in 1983 which identified the nature
of such mission as transformation of all human relationships.
