Both Christian Missionaries and Indigenous Christians believe that that fundamental role is evangelism.  However, the provision of education and health services are often done as an opening wedge for the Gospel. The revenue accrued from these projects is seen as an advancement of the Gospel.  Rarely do the Christians perceive these development projects as means of transforming structural violence.
