OCMS Code of Fundraising Practice
Four values that underpin our fundraising practice
Legal: All fundraising aims to meet the requirements of the law.
Open: We are open with the public about our processes and are willing to explain (where appropriate) if we are asked for more information.
Honest: We act with integrity and will not mislead the public about the cause we are fundraising for or the way a donation will be used.
Respectful: We will demonstrate respect whenever we have contact with any member of the public.
Standards that apply to our fundraising
We will not fundraise in a way which is an unreasonable intrusion on a person’s privacy, is unreasonably persistent or places undue pressure on a person to donate. We will use the funds for the purposes to which they have been given. If redirection of funds is necessary, we will only do so with the donors’ approval.
Processing personal data (information)
We will keep up to date with guidance from the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office). This includes the ICO’s direct marketing guidance, its GDPR consent guidance and legitimate interests guidance.
Standards which apply to specific fundraising methods
OCMS aims to meet the standards that apply to the specific fundraising methods we employ.
