150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF ST PHILIP AND ST JAMES CHURCH

OCMS celebrated the 150th Anniversary of St Philip and St James Church on Wednesday 13th June, 2012.  This was an invitee only event, which included the whole community at OCMS.  We had about 60 people who attended the celebrations, who came from the wider community of both OCMS and St Philip and St James Church.  The festivities commenced with a service of Celebration which was led by Archbishop Malhkaz Songulashvili of the Baptist Church of Georgia and included a homily by Bishop Jonathan of the See of Ebbsfleet.  The service also included chanting by Katie McKeogh of Regents College, Oxford.   Archbishop Malhkaz Songulashvili was assisted by Reverend Georgie Simpson and 14 Members of the OCMS community.   The service was followed by a lecture on Victorian Architecture and Oxford by Dr William Whyte of St. John’s College, Oxford.  To round off the celebrations, everyone who attended was then invited to lunch in the grounds of St Philip and St John Church.  The lunch was cooked by Flora, OCMS’s regular cook and her team of helpers.

Special ‘thank yous’ must go to Flora, David Healey, Kate Di Carlo and Katie McKeogh for all their help during this very busy and special time.
