Chapel

OCMS Chapel: Wednesdays 9.30am
Special, and at the heart of the OCMS community, Chapel is a time of worship, prayer, and listening to the Word of God. At its core Chapel is an opportunity for us to reflect on the connection between our scholarship and our faith.
Worship is led by a different member of the community each week, bringing a broad spectrum of styles of worship from a wide variety of cultural origins. One week we may sing 'Great is thy Faithfulness', the next 'Hakuna Mungu Kama Wewe', with maybe Arabic or Malay worship songs the week after! We value and encourage this diversity, finding there is much to learn from how other cultures encounter God through worship.
Regarding the message, exegetical faithfulness to the Word is important to us. In other words, we look forward to a real engagement with the biblical text. But we do not aim purely for an academic exegesis, wanting and needing this time to be uplifting, encouraging, and relating to our study as scholars, mission practitioners and disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Revd Andrew Anderson, our Chaplain, organises our speakers' schedule among whom we have welcomed leaders of world renown: Revd John Stott, Kwame Bediako, Revd Hwa Yung, Ruth Padilla DeBorst and Tito Paredes, and Lamin Sanneh, to name but a few.
Our Chapel services are always open to all members of the community, staff, students and faculty as well as supporters, local church members and leaders and any visitors from around the world. Please call reception for any further information on +44 (0) 1865 556071
