WCC Conference in Tanzania

In March Marina Behera and Paul Bendor-Samuel had the privilege of participating in the World Council of Church’s Conference on World Mission and Evangelism held in Arusha, Tanzania. The theme was Moving in the Spirit: Called to Transforming Discipleship (https://www.oikoumene.org/en/press-centre/events/conference-on-world-mission-and-evangelism-moving-in-the-spirit-called-to-transforming-discipleship). Around 1000 (a large number from Africa) participants attended, reflecting a range of Christian traditions. The majority were from historic, main-line Protestant denominations with significant representation from parts of the Orthodox community who have always been a significant voice within the WCC.  Some of the Bible studies and plenaries were helpful, and the plenary sessions were packed.  As always, the personal conversations are the highlight at such gatherings.
