Behind the Door…
Welcome to a new OCMS!
As a career missionary, I have travelled to many places, big and small, urban and rural. An interesting object I always notice is a door or rather what different people make of their doors, the main entrance to a place. Average European homes, for instance, do not have elaborate doors. Often it is a simple and small one right onto a street, as at 10 Downing Street. But I also saw one grandiose and well decorated marble arch door in a dusty village of
What does a door have to do with OCMS? There have been gradual changes at OCMS, but seldom noticed, as most of them are within the daily operation of the community. The dedication of the refurbished Seminar Room in December 2008 was an example.
We introduced another small ‘door’ in the beginning of the year, a revised logo. The old one is still there, but there are obvious new elements. Of course, this may not be the very best one we can ever have. But what is important is that behind this door is the exciting reality of a changing OCMS. Just like the new logo, our continuing changes are based on the unique experience of a quarter of a century of history.
In the near future, Regnum Books International will publish, along with seven other monographs, the first Edinburgh 2010 title. Three more are being planned in this sub-series. With OCMS co-hosting the study commission on ‘Mission Spirituality and Authentic Discipleship’, these publications form part of the continuing efforts of the OCMS team to resource global Christian and mission networks.
As we expect a dozen future global mission leaders to begin their journey of research in March, we would like to extend our warm welcome to all those who are shaping the future of global Christianity. Come and join us. Our doors, even if they may look small, are open for you to enter the wide world of God’s mission!
